With 148 dining venues across the UK, Prezzo employs approximately 3,000 people in a wide variety of roles including front of house, back of house, finance, IT, marketing and restaurant management.

Creating a memorable customer experience is something Prezzo takes immense pride in. They want every customer to leave their restaurants with a smile, wanting to return. Achieving that takes a strong team, where everyone performs at their best.

That’s why Prezzo invests in people – and they’ve got the accolades to prove it. This year, Prezzo won the ‘Best use of Benefits Technology’ award at the prestigious Employee Benefits Awards 2022, and the Excellence in HR Technology’ award at the HR in Hospitality Awards. They’ve also been shortlisted for the Investors in People Awards, which take place next month, for ‘Best use of Technology’.

Behind every popular restaurant is a dedicated manager. Prezzo wants to be as supportive as possible towards their restaurant managers – from the day they join the company. They approached THEMPC with the brief to create two hundred new starter boxes for the employee onboarding of managers joining their restaurant teams.

A welcome box with a slice of sustainability

Prezzo initially contacted THEMPC through our live chat system. They were open to collaborating with us on the contents of the packs, with the essential component being that the items were fitting for those working in hospitality.

We are experts in employee merchandise, including staff care packages, employee gift boxes and onboarding kits to welcome new hires. Combining our infinite creativity with a wide range of skills and capabilities in design, print and packaging, we are masters of the employee appreciation box and we have tailored new starter kits to the unique brand specifications and company message of many organisations.

As a winner of the International Green Apple Award for Environmental Best Practice and a finalist in the National Recycling Awards 2021, Prezzo was keen for the new starter kit content to be sustainable, including reusable items with everyday purpose.

Increasing numbers of brands are becoming more aware of the environmental impact of single-use items. We use our network of suppliers to source eco-friendly merchandise that creates less waste. Even better, our in-house design and print facilities mean we can produce everything under one roof.

After a thorough consultation with Prezzo, we produced a quotation for two hundred packs including a pizza cutter, a chef’s cap and an apron. All items could be used day to day and would be branded with the Prezzo logo.

Recipe for success

New starter kits are a brilliant way to show new recruits they’re valued and communicate the company values, as well as boosting employee engagement. Here’s what we did to create onboarding packs for two hundred new members of Prezzo’s restaurant management team:

• Sent Prezzo samples of a pizza cutter, a chef’s cap and an apron (along with sample packaging) so they could experience the look and feel of the proposed products
• Created final versions of the items following approval from Prezzo on the samples
• Produced all items in Prezzo’s colours – black and white – featuring the logo
• Collaborated with the Prezzo marketing team on the new starter kit packaging artwork
• Printed the packaging using artwork supplied by Prezzo
• Packed the new starter kits, ready for dispatch to Prezzo HQ to distribute to restaurants

Statistics compiled by Click Boarding indicate that 69% of employees are more likely to stay with a company for three years if they experience positive onboarding.
