Midoki – Onboarding and employee gift boxes

Client requirements

Midoki, winners of the Pocket Gamer ‘Best Role Play Game’ Award 2021, specialise in the creation of socially connected games for mobile devices. They approached us to help them develop a ‘welcome to the team’ employee gift box for new staff to use as part of their employee onboarding process. Their initial requirement was for 30 packs and they engaged us to design and produce an onboarding pack with content to reflect their quirky creative style.

What we did

We shared a range of different ideas and merchandise samples aligned to Midoki’s branding. The box design we recommended was a ‘pizza style’ box which allowed a practical layout for the content as well as looking visually appealing. We initially produced a plain concept sample box with contents which they liked and approved, so we then moved on to the next stage.

Like many projects, this one evolved as it went along, with a requirement for a new addition to the pack contents. Midoki wanted to add a figurine from one of their games, ‘Plunder Pirates’, as part of the employee gift box, to add a bit of extra tongue in cheek ‘treasure’ to the trove of goodies. This was no problem at all for us and we made amendments in the internal foam fitment to accommodate the additional figurine.

How we did it

Midoki provided us with artwork to use on the box and contents. The art design was printed directly to the outside of the box and we ensured that all the items inside were housed securely within a custom white foam fitment, which not only prevents breakage but also presents the contents in a polished and professional way when opening the box.

Here at THEMPC we also like to personalise our customer and employee engagement packs to make them special and individual for each recipient, so we added a personalised A6 postcard to each box.

Employee onboarding packs that make a great first impression 

The finished result was a fantastic and quirky looking ‘Team Loot Box’ which included the following contents sourced and branded by us:

• Branded double walled vacuum thermal insulated travel drink bottle
• White branded ceramic mug
• Durable branded fabric mouse mat with a rubber base
• A5 branded mole notebook in cyan
• Beech wood writing set
• A6 personalised branded postcard printed to both sides (400gsm Silk finish)

The box also included the new addition of the figurine supplied by Midoki.

The full order was completed in two weeks and the ‘Team Loot Box’ went down a storm with the customer and their employees. Not only were the boxes playful, fun and quirky, but the branded merchandise contents inside were also useful for the home and office workspace. No worthless treasure inside these loot boxes!
