We were approached by Aussie Grit Apparel, who are an Australian start up lead by former Formula One driver Mark Webber. They create off-road running and cycling trail gear for men and women. They are passionate about the benefits of training and being in the great outdoors. It’s what they describe as being ‘connected to nature.’ They were recommended by an existing client which was a great compliment to us.
They wanted to emulate a note book diary they had been given by our existing client with their own branding and imagery on. These books were to make their way into PR press packs to showcase the brand and the Aussie Grit values. They had to be there in time not only for the press release, but since they are a diary the project had to be completed as early in January as possible for global distribution.
Aussie Grit provided us with the brief along with their brand guidelines and then it was straight to work on the design, we had one week to design, proof, amend and obtain the final approval and one further week to manufacture the finished product. A tight lead time but with the units required and a passionate team behind the project both ends, and a few late nights we made this a priority.
One of the factors in the design and finish without a doubt had to be a high-quality finish however as per the brief we were careful not to over design with embellishments and keep a natural finish. We opted for an offset material throughout and internal single colour pages and then we used two different weights of coated stock for the covers and the internal coloured pages. This aided the lovely feel to the book especially when you see the coloured pages with the fantastic photography, which shows you vast landscapes and demonstrates the Aussie Grit passion about training and being in the great outdoors.
Together we created a functional, interesting and inspiring diary. The diary really gives you a feel for what they stand for and that’s all before you’ve seen the fantastic outdoor gear they have available. If you want to see what Aussie Grit are up to, why not visit their site and read their stories and news.
It was a pleasure to work with such a great team and produce this item for them.
